Waiting for my kid to get home to check his results, but this is pretty sobering...

Not that familiar with Northeastern, as my current senior didn’t apply.
But my younger student may be interested.
Do they factor in demonstrated interest?

This does not equate to an acceptance rate of 4% because most EA applicants have been deferred to RD...we have no idea how many will ultimately be accepted. In addition, it's very hard to know how many of the 2,000 are "true" admits vs the NU In or NU Bound programs, which (for reasons I don't totally understand) factor differently into acceptance rates since they don't start in the fall....I don't know if they don't count at all in the acceptance rate (i.e., are taken out of the numerator and denominator) or just the numerator (are not considered normal acceptances).

In any event, NE has become unbelievably hot...their applications for ED1 were up something like 40 percent this year and their total numbers something like 20 percent. I have several friends in the Boston area that say it is virtually impossible for New England kids to get in because it is considered to be such a "cool" school--kids love the idea of a downtown school plus the co-op/experiential thing is really appealing.

Yes but you still get a plenty of liberal artsy classes with a few writing intensive and other requirements.
My kid is a freshmen and half the classes has only 20-30 students wih lots of discussion.

DD not home so don't know yet!!! I worry that he didn't submit his SAT scores, but does have a strong GPA, interesting ECs and, per his advisor, a great essay. I worry that not submitting scores was a bad decision. UGH!!!

Accepted to global first year experience (first semester abroad). Arlington public school

Parent nervously awaiting financial aid info in next few days, and country list.

DD is in! Whereas she got deferred at two other schools with higher acceptance rates, which goes to show you it’s all a crap shoot.

DC was accepted with Dean's scholarship ($12,000 annually). Magnet program in MCPS, 3.95 UW, 4.7 W, 33 ACT. We are quite surprised, actually, but delighted.

DC got deferred too, but honestly, once we heard they overenrolled last year, we did not expect any different. DC will send the LOCI and then move on.
