66k is the current estimated total cost of attendance. Tuition is 45k but room and board approach 17k, which is a little more than many other places (probably due to location).

(As an aside, not a critical point, their student insurance at 2.7k is a little on the steep side compared to some others.)

while i am partial to berkeley, i understand that it is a real grind. a real grind. if your dc is interested in STEM, would def not suggest Berkeley.

By those in the know, absolutely Berkeley. Worldwide, Cal is recognized as the preeminent public university in this country. Only Harvard and Stanford can match its overall academic excellence.

Possibly in terms of sports or a very “90210” way. But academically? No.

At UCLA look up whether your anticipated major is impacted. Many, many kids can't get into the classes they need to graduate in 4 years. In many majors kids are taking 5-6 years to get a bachelor's degree.

I would never send my kid to UCLA. It's highly racially and economically segregated and, while sports are well funded, academics are terribly underfunded.

You can’t just make up numbers like 10%. It’s school-specific and will decrease each year. So which school and which year determines the OOS cap. Critical reasoning skills are important.
