This is not entirely true. I do agree much of improved speed is endurance. We have a brilliantly fast girl on our team who peters out in the 2nd half all the time. You can improve sprinting speed and while I agree part of it is natural athleticism, a good part of speed (in the 2nd half especially) is really endurance.


Nothing is entirely true if you parse it.
There is speed and endurance. You can train to do more intervals at speed and consider it endurance. Speed loss in a 2nd half or anytime based on fatigue in a soccer game is primarily mental unless the athlete is grossly out of shape in which case both speed and endurance benefit from training

I was giving athletes the benefit by treating them as in shape. Yours may not be.


Most are not in shape. Very few are
