Yes, this piece on either side. We didn’t hand the glass doors because we just wanted the shelving open but we have the doors laying around in case we want a little makeover down the line.

The contractor was Pablo, at mailto:p.c.con.service@gmail.com. He was great, and did help with some of the marginal calls on trim and such, but that was after I had made the major design decisions.

Closet Stretchers will be half the price of California Closets (used them for multiple closets in our house).

My parents did something like that in their home office - they used California Closets. Any of those closet companies could easily do this for you, and it would probably be cheaper than getting them done custom by a carpenter.

I’d highly recommend the ikea hacks route as well unless you’re pretty experienced with woodworking…

DH is an amateur woodworker and here are some caveats/thoughts:
- your first time doing anything is a great learning experience, it’s not your polished perfect showcase
- wood AND the equipment needed is very expensive, has has several large pieces of equipment and has spent thousands of dollars (and lots of time) acquiring nice used items
- drawers are pretty advanced. They’re not like a crazy skill or anything, but they’re not a great first project. You start with like a coffee table or something simple typically

I think my DH could build what’s in your picture, but it would take him like 4 months of squeezing in time on the weekends, it might cost $1500++ in materials (depending on what wood variety he used) and he sold some of his equipment when we moved and might need to buy about $2000-5000 worth of stuff to proceed (depending how fancy he wanted to get)
