Do you think people won't be gathering together when the kid are virtual? I see teachers on social media posting about their gathering and traveling. Lost of people traveled all over and dialed it in last year.

On one hand it's okay for kids to unmask in school lunchrooms, no matter how many get infected, and not to close down; yet teachers are being told by MCPS and the Governor that this is all okay - but can't "gather and travel"? Inconsistent messaging leads to inconsistent results.

What do you think happens when you close schools? Do you seriously think that, after the last two years, kids are going to stop meeting up? You also profoundly misread the current political climate. Even very liberal parents like myself are horrified by the closure of schools for so long, and the last thing we want to see is a repeat of this. I am even willing to vote Republican if necessary to see the schools remain open, something I never thought I would say.

The fact is that omicron poses close to zero risk for children, and is not much worse than the flu for everyone else. Closing schools while everything else remains open would be criminally stupid.
