I had my twin bed through grad school!! Got a queen when now DH and I officially moved in together after college/grad school. My own parents slept in a full for like the first 25 years of marriage. That was a little nuts in my opinion, finally they upgraded to a queen.

Most of us don't. Twin beds till you are buying your own bed. Colleges, grad schools all have twin beds.

I got two extra longs like they have in dorms. I see no reason for adolescents to share beds. Sleepovers can use sleeping bags. My boys can sleep in these beds until they move out.

Our 6 year old has a full and we can easily sleep with her in there if needed.

I slept in a full from age 4 through college and it was fine. I even had friends sleep over with me and it didn’t feel too small at the time.

We moved our 6yo from a twin to a queen last year, but only because we already had an extra queen mattress. I also think he’s going to be tall, so it made sense for longevity’s sake.

My 4yo DD is in an extendable toddler-to-twin bed now. When the baby is ready to move out of his crib, we will put DD in a full - because we already have her bedroom furniture and that’s what size the headboard is. Her room is also slightly smaller and she likes to spread out when she’s playing in her room, so I think the extra floor space will be good for her.

This is an aside because I don’t think OP cares, but the insistance on twin beds for kids is always a little weird to me. Our kid has been in a full since she was 3. To me it’s so much more practical, assuming you have the space. Her current bed was a rarely-used guest bed that used to live in our office. When our youngest is old enough for a regular bed, she’ll inherit that full and our oldest will inherit our queen and we’ll get a new bed. And then when they are both older, their rooms will be guest rooms and we’ll keep the larger beds in there.

I just don’t understand the point in twin beds unless you are literally doing are room with two of them. Getting at least a full makes so much more sense because it’s more versatile and generally doesn’t take up that much more space or cost that much more.

And all the “get a twin with a trundle” comments baffle me because trundles can’t be pricy! Unless it’s a tiny room (which will make the trundle impractical anyway) I don’t understand why you wouldn’t just get a full and call it a day.

We have done a full size bed and it’s been a good choice. Definitely big enough for us to stay in there for bad dreams when she was younger (that phase ends before they get that big). Also perfect for tween sleepovers. I don’t think they’ll want to share a bed as they get older though— because the room is large, it would be easy to set up an inflatable mattress on the floor for a friend.

We got a full, which has worked out fine for sleepovers and such. But if I had to do it over, I’d get a queen - the bedroom is big enough to support it, and it’s so much more comfortable for two adults than full.

We stepped up. Crib, to full (crib turned into a full headboard, and we gave him an old mattress), and then to queen so we only keep one size sheets in the house.

For my girls they both went from crib w toddler rails to fulls.

My teens were taller than us at age 14. It would be us parents in the full if you go by size.
