I brought my own robe and pajamas. I was cold all the time and last time I delivered in April. I had a c-section and maybe didn’t bleed as much. Was still a lot but not as much. Plus you can pull the robe up behind you a bit when you’re lying down so you’re not sitting on it. That should prevent blood from getting on it.

If you’re an adult woman who doesn’t know how to get blood out of laundry you’re doing something wrong.

Also a mom of 3 and I liked having a robe as kind of a wearable blanket but also what above pp listed. I don’t think a light decorative robe would be useful and I don’t think you should relegate yourself to wearing those thin backless hospital downs after delivery.

Same here. I wore the hospital gown open in the front and zip up hoodie for warmth. I never cared what I looked like though. For me a nice fluffy towel is much more important than a robe.

I wouldn't have found a bathrobe useful (I have 3 kids). Black cotton leggings with a fold over waist and nursing tanks and a zip up sweatshirt or open front sweater worked well for me.

Mostly I was naked. I brought an open front cardigan that is cozy for when I was cold (but still had boobs / tummy out).

Agree. I appreciated having a robe to put on when I got out of bed instead of relying on their flimsy gowns for covering up!

Who cares about covering up? You are bleeding, sore, tits out, milk flowing through your clothes. The last thing I cared about was a nurse seeing the back of my ass.

None of that was my experience. Milk didn’t come in until long after I left. Blood was contained to my disposable underwear and I wasn’t that sore. 3x mom.

+1. I took off the hospital gown as soon as I left the delivery room and was in the recovery room. I took a shower, put on some comfortable clothes and got some delivery food. I definitely had a couple leaks but it’s not as though I was just bleeding all over the place and running around naked the entire time I was in the recovery room after delivery.

I received a Motherhood Maternity nightgown and robe set after my first baby and took that with me to the hospital for my second and third babies. It has a nursing tank style gown and a dark colored robe. I think I put this on after I took a shower and just had the hospital gown on beforehand.

I also second bringing stretchy sweats/joggers and a nursing sleep bra/nursing shirt where you just pull it down at the neck.

Completely disagree. You see tons of nurses, might have guests and take tons of pictures. I liked feeling nice. I refused to wear those nasty hospital gowns. Plus I had lots of free time. It was likely the most free time I had for the rest of the year. I just laid there and dressed baby and admired how adorable they were. Bliss.

I wore a nice robe and not a bathrobe. Mine was a milkmaid brand one. Stains come right out of it. I can’t imagine stains coming out of a cotton or terry cloth bathrobe. I wear robes nonstop at home so it didn’t go to waste after I gave birth.

Warm black robe, black sweatpant joggers, comfortable, unstructured sleep nursing bras you can just pull down (not the fussy ones with molded cups and clips you hook and unhook. These were all amazing things to have.

Those cute, thin, floral robes are for the birds.

You can usually get a fresh blood stain out with dish soap and hydrogen peroxide. Up to you if you want the extra chore.
