Watches with her kid or alone? I live South Park but I think that is weird

I love Miyazaki films and adventure time. For me it used to be nice background stuff. I think cartoons are better than reality tv for relaxing. Reality tv like the bachelor show relaxes some but it just angers me. I can't watch background stuff anymore, I prefer peace and quiet when I can get it.

I do think if a woman came to DCUM asking if her 40 year-old man partner was weird for watching kid cartoons, many would pile on and say he was immature and to drop him. I don't think the cartoons is that weird OP, if it doesn't consume her, but I also think people coming for you are being extreme.

Flashing back to when, long before we had a kid, I'd come in from work earlier than DH and I'd sit down with a snack and watch "Wishbone" on PBS. Not animated but aimed at older elementary kids. who love to read. Adorable real dog imagines himself as characters in literature. It's a hoot, smart, funny, sweet, has a terrier wearing costumes, and I felt no shame watching it. I miss "Wishbone." Guess your DH and I are both weirdos to OP!

Being an introvert has nothing to do with whether or not someone likes animated movies. What a strange line of reasoning. But since you think liking anime is "creepy," it's best that you don't date this guy.

I loathe the look of anime (yes, anime fans, sorry) but I can still see how adults are into it as a hobby.

It's another form of storytelling and most people love stories in SOME form. Some people enjoy novels, others movies, some watch lots of TV shows, some love anime, others won't miss their favorite podcasts. I have two (not animated) TV shows I probably know too much about and yes, I seek out interviews and articles about them when I'm relaxing. I guess I'm weird in OP's book and yours too, or is the issue only with adults liking anime, PP? It's...a story.

If the guy at work were into, say, Clint Eastwood Western movies, or the "Law and Order" TV series, or Marvel movies, and binged things like that on his days off -- would you still consider him "seriously weird"? Why would that be less weird than binging anime, other than you might not like anime personally? I can't stand it, but I still understand the appeal to others and don't find it weird unless he's obsessive about it or expects you to act out anime fantasies with him....

I love watching Adventure Time!

i really like Masha and the Bear -especially the ones in Russian (i don't speak Russian). One year for Halloween my daughter went as Masha and DH went as Bear.

I used to love The Flintstones in my 20’s.

As long as the hobby is harmless and doesn't interfere with being able to function as an adult, who cares? Why judge other people's downtime activities?

I think you should not date this woman, because you are judging her for a totally harmless past time.

She might enjoy watching them with her tween. They might not be as childish as you assume, since many cartoons are designed to appeal to both kids and adults on different levels. Heck, maybe she knows they are silly but finds it relaxing. Frankly, it's no stranger than watching reality TV or other equally mindless TV shows that we've somehow deemed "adult" because they involve more sex/violent/foul language/materialism. But if your reaction isn't to be at least interested enough to find out what she enjoys about these shows, but to find total strangers to tell you if it's weird or not, then you aren't the person for her.
