Paloma is a Spanish name. Spanish from Spain. It's not like you have to be English heritage to use Elizabeth or French heritage to use Marie or German heritage to use Hanna.

What about Mirabel? Or Meritxell?

Paloma is pretty, but it is starting to trend significantly in the UK and now the US, if that matters to you.

I like Miranda and Juliet.

All all very pretty names.

Could Julia be a compromise? Spanish-speakers in the family can say it like hoo-lia if they wish and others will say joo-lia.

I like that Paloma means "dove" like the bird and a symbol of peace, but I think the same word is also used for "pigeon" which, to me, is a much less desirable association.

Agreed. I think they are all pretty but think Gwendolyn could be a mouthful and would feel a bit weird about naming a kid Paloma if not Spanish/Italian. But they are all lovely.

Miranda, I have a tough time separating it from Sex and the City. I'd opt for Cassandra instead.

And instead of Gwendolyn, I'd opt for Gwenevier or Gwenevieve, calling her Gwen or Vee or Vivi.

I know a Paloma nickname Lolo which I think is adorable. I also love Juliet and Alice.
