Wow my kids' schools are both on the lowest part of that scale. Hooray!

Back to the OP though, I definitely don't think it's reasonable to expect info about your kids' specific classes/teachers to come from APS.

Yes. That is correct.

But keep in mind kids have only been in school for 1 day so they didn’t get sick at school. They had to have contracted during the snow week or earlier.

Oh absolutely! This is the highest rate we’ve seen in APS schools in the past year and a half. It’s due to community spread, not spread in the schools where they masks all day.

PP I've thought that I would like to know #1 on your list. I just don't know how schools would get that info out in a timely manner before drop off for before care starts. If you're worried about your kids' teacher having COVID I assume you'd get one of those school wide emails like when a kid in X grade has COVID. Though come to think of it I haven't seen a single email about staff and I know staff at our school have had COVID. In the dunno... Schools don't need one more thing to do right now. But if I knew my early ES kid had a sub I'd keep them home for the next few weeks. I don't think they'd miss much. I know not everyone can make that choice.

Let me clarify. If over the next few weeks I knew my kid had a sub I'd keep my kid home for the day (or even a couple of days). I wouldn't keep my kid home for weeks just because they had a sub for a day.

Wong, reporting is in real time and at your fingertips. 150+ have reported COVID positive today alone. There are 650+ kids with COVID across APS.

https://apsva.co1.qualtrics.com/public-dashboard/v0/dashboard/60d5f170495a0000108b9941#/dashboard/60d5f170495a0000108b9941?pageId=Page_c7dbca22-0199-45ae-94fa-a01dbf2296ee

NP. Is the 650+ just who reported today, so could be kids who were sick yesterday and the day before? Not 650+ new kids reporting COVID? Similarly, if a kid reports having COVID on the first day but then doesn't do Qualtrics for the rest of their quarantine, they wouldn't be included. Right? Just trying to make sure I understand what this data does and does not show. My kids' school shows over 20 kids out with COVID today but we've seen zero emails from the school about a case in school, so I think it fair to assume the 20+ cases were identified outside of school. If anyone has more insights or corrections, please share.

This is a 100% unreasonable expectation. All of it.

I think the consolidating with a class one is reasonable and the rest, you are nuts. And even with the consolidating a class one, it might not be in real time if they had to make a decision on the fly. You might get an email after the fact.

We never got notification the kids had subs. Never. Not pre-pandemic. Our kids got told and my kid would sometimes tell me. But that's it.

And please don't give me a blow-by-blow of "anticipate disruption" to the regular day. No, no, no.

I don’t give a damn what you think you’re entitled to. This is an unreasonable request that places a tremendous administrative burden on schools. Please be reasonable.

Duran had a lot of parents concerned when he reported at the SB meeting that he was expecting 40% staff to be out last Thursday before accounting for snow absences from FCPS closing. One of my kids didn't have teachers or subs yesterday. It would be really helpful to know where things stand as to staff vacancies. Clearly he's not going to share names, but there's a huge gap between the covid dashboard and 40% vacancy.

Was there an update on how first day back was? A report on staffing needs, with specifics per school? When masks and tests kits will be delivered?

My school totally silent.

The Superintendent sends weekly messages with updates on Wednesdays. Nothing earth shattering has happened. Are you expecting something more?
