Agree w you except I like to believe we all won’t get omnicron. I’m not saying my belief is based in anything other than foolish hope. We are prepared as a family to get it knowing we just need otc meds and time.

We are accepting the risk.


This is crazy. I just read about this policy for the first time this morning, I had no idea some schools were doing it in DC (but I guess I'm not surprised):

I hope it's the latter, but even that would be embarrassing. Everyone knows that electric heating draws a lot of power. They should have checked the amperage before spending money on such a purchase.

I thought this was true but when we polled the one grade eating outside they almost all wanted to eat out in the cold (coats required). Honestly kids are weird with temperatures! I think we set a feels like <32 and we all eat inside policy but it’s always optional so no one is forced to eat out in the cold/heat/sun/wind.


While true isn’t there some rule (maybe it’s by school) about what the threshold is for outdoor activities? I know recess/PE was in the gym if the temp fell below a certain temperature and that has kids moving not sitting still. I’m fine with eating indoors, unmasked for 20-30 mins. as long as the kids are not swished together. Making everyone stay masked and eating with a mask on is over the top. We don’t do it to adults on planes, Amtrak or at sporting events.

Yes, it's a foolish hope. You might not get it this month, or this year, but you and your kids will eventually get it at some point, unless you keep taking a costly amount of precautions.

Lafayette has outdoor lunch but no talk of heaters. they don’t go out in cold, rain, snow. kids eat on the ground, so there will be more indoor lunch. kids eat in classroom/hallway.
