Our HS child has been in school all of last year and all of this year, class size is capped at 15 (over 30 in evwry class in MCPS), and their education is better. If covid never happened, we wouldn't be in private, but it did and we are.
Especially with what is going on right now in MCPS, I am beyond happy with our choice, even though it makes for serious belt tightening.
Didn’t GC in MoCo close for the year too? Wasn’t that bad, regardless…and would have hated to pay private tuition to sit at home
Good Counsel? They were open in some type of hybrid mode most of the year.

I appreciate the autonomy and how I have the flexibility to meet my students’ needs. I’m thankful my children’s teachers can do the same. It works for us and we think it’s worth the sacrifices we have to make to afford tuition. I’m sure it’s not for everybody, but we’ve found our homes.

The other one has learning disabilities and needed a smaller school setting to get the attention they needed. Public school (Arlington) is abysmal with learning disabilities.
DC publics are decent relative to other publics in the u.s., but that's not saying a ton generally, and it's saying nothing relative to the great privates we have here. There's a lot of wealth in the DMV, and those great privates are pretty accessible to many. So they pick the relatively better privates.
