Okay—glad we could clarify. I agree that you’d be happier someplace else. I’ve got lots of R friends but only one that voted Trump and he’s so regretful! I think with so many people in this area who have dedicated their lives to government service, support of the rule of law, etc., Trump support is just a bridge too far for many of us to cross. I think the further you get from DC proper, the more likely you are to find people who are not bothered by support for armed insurrection and the dismantling of our democratic systems of government.

I live in 22207 on a street with mostly old houses, and during election season I see both red and blue signs pop up among my neighbors. That doesn't stop me from being neighborly to the ones who have a different political view than mine. We all come out and shovel snow off our sidewalks and driveways like good citizens. Our kids sled down the neighborhood hill together.

Are my neighbors very passionate about politics? I'm sure many are. But I've never had a political discussion with any of them.

MD is mostly red by square miles, as is the US. But MD as well as the US is mostly blue where most people live.

I am conserve leaning independent in Kensington. South Kensington is more balanced than other parts of MoCo. Outer MoCo is more balanced than inner MoCo. I think Fairfax generally more balanced than MoCo.

Problem is not people who happen to be liberal but a certain style of obnoxious progressive. I assume hatdcore MAGA people are just as obnoxious but in DC inside the beltway its the progressives that feel like they have the cultural space to be super annoying. In Sugarland, TX its probably the inverse.

My ideal would be somewhere purple but I am here for work and family. It is what it is. I feel your pain OP.

OP, I live in an area with houses under 500-600k in MoCo and everyone is too busy working to talk about politics. Try moving to a poorer area in MoCo, and you will find more republicans and also more people who are just working and trying to get by and don't have the time for lots of political discussions.

I live in Silver Spring and I never have a conversation about politics with my neighbors. It is possible!

this. We are tired of people being in our face about it. Most of our neighborhood are politically opinionated to a religious degree and are not open to different views or healthy discussion. I bet they will soon pop up in this thread. Thanks for your input! OP
