I think it is hit or miss. On Thursday WFs was fine. Today we did an installation order,-Wegmans was available so we went with Giant. They didn't have a lot.

We use Liberty Delight Farms that will deliver (in Howard county at least)

And for a splurge, Snake River Farms is epic. (Mail order). Their porchetta is last meal on earth worthy.

I wouldn't worry about missing food. This always happens when it snows. They probably didn't have time/get the food to restock in time after the first snow storm.

Chicken has been MIA at our local Giant this past week. I’m not sure if it’s a regional issue due to snow, or a larger supply chain issue, but it’s definitely a problem at the moment.

There are staffing issues at the factories on the eastern shore that process the chicken. I saw a giant billboard that Amick Farms is now paying $18 per hour to work in the chicken processing plant.

Prior to covid chicken processing plant workers started at $10 per hour on Delmarva. Now rates of pay start at $18 per hour and all of the factories are struggling to find workers--Perdue, Amick Farms etc.

I have not had any problems at Wegman’s and Harris Teeter.

You can buy local meat at Westover Market in Arlington. Some fresh and a bigger variety frozen. They haven't had supply chain issues throughout the pandemic. Farmers markets are good too, but Westover Market is more convenient.

Try your local farmers market . Much better to eat high quality meat occasionally than industrial grocery store meat frequently.

I went to Giant and got all that but it was substitutions - they only had shelf-stable milk, specific cuts of chicken (but prices were good), expensive brown extra-large eggs, and no limits on bread but out of cream cheese. They were also out of all chopped or prepared salads weirdly enough.

Personally it doesn't faze me - I've lived in countries with a lot more 'deprivation'. But for a normal American the shortages going on two years are less common.
