I love my kids dearly and we’ve enjoyed the extended winter break, but they and I would’ve been happy with a physical return to school today. Not sure why people project so much on parents wanting kids in school. It’s an important social-emotional component of childhood. It doesn’t mean I don’t care for my kids—quite the opposite!
Oh yeah, the numerous 'I'm so depressed I have to interact with my kids for an extended period' threads says otherwise.

My kids and I went sledding, baked cookies, watched movies, etc. It’s been a blast but they need school.
+1.

We didn't have one (Elementary). We did have a webinar with Dr. Hutchings - not really anything new except they ordered Kn-95s for teachers and students and explaining the CDC 5 day quarantine thing. I thing they need to revisit opting out for testing instead of opting in. We have a really good testing setup but it is being seriously under utilized.

This was the message - please point out the reason given:
"All ACPS schools will be closed for in-person and virtual learning and extracurricular activities tomorrow, Thurs., Jan. 6, 2022. All staff will participate in a virtual workday."
Right, they did not give a reason. If the reason was that some roads are still unsafe, or they did not have staffing due to COVID, I take no issue with it. I just want an explanation.

DCPS is looking through the results of mandating negative test results now so it will be interesting to see what they decide. Philly, which did not require testing for all already has 92 out of 216 schools go virtual this week because of Covid related staffing shortages.
