I didn't pay for same day service. I requested regular PCR test - results within 48 hours. The testing place just happens to be called Someday Health.

Interesting, we just tested our entire family at Sameday health and got an EOB from FEP BCBS with a check. I guess we will wait for a bill from Someday.

Same Day health did my first two vaccines. FEHB BCBS sent me checks to deposit which were to cover the later "bills" I received for those vaccines. It was so backwards!

I did not deposit checks for a long time until Same Day said they were going to send it to collections. The reminder texts along the way were casual and borderline unprofessional as mentioned upthread.

OP here (I think this is my post). I am finally getting EMAILS from Flowhealth (they have texted me in the past asking me to pay, wtf) asking me to pay the bill from December, even though I have been getting tests from Same Day for a year. This email from Flowhealth is a copy of the EOB (which says this is not a bill right on it) and a credit card authorization form. The email says "Hey it's Tobi from Flow Health". It's so unprofessional and seems fake, even though I don't think it is. I told them they can send me a formal bill. I received 3 emails but have taken 15 tests with them in the past. The whole thing is so strange.

I wanted to bump this previous discussion. We also got a check from FEP BCBS for our Same Day Health bills. I've reached out to Same Day Health and they have no record of outstanding bills. They said they billed FEP BCBS directly. I guess we go through the process of returning the money to FEP BCBS? Just wondering if anyone has been through this.

I answered on the thread. I callled bcbs california (number is on the EOB) and they explained that Sameday used a California lab, which was out of network for bcbs[b], hence the check. I think we will get a bill from Sameday or the lab at some point. So deposit the check now.

This is why I always write “consent to in network providers only” directly above my signature on any form. Sometimes an in network provider will use other out of network labs or providers without your knowledge and then try and make you responsible for the whole bill. I do not consent to this. Some admin staff have said, “you can’t change the form” or “how do I know if the provider is in network”. My response is 1). Consent must be informed and voluntary. I am not providing blanket consent for you to do anything. I am consenting to be seen by the in network provider for specific testing. If the consent form is a blanket one, I just cross it out the parts I don’t agree with. 2). I have provided my insurance information. The doctor or clinic who is providing a service and wants to get paid must know whether or not they accept that insurance. Again, consent must be informed and I am not consenting to just any old person or provider performing medical work unbeknownst to me.

This. All those people running out for the "free" tests just in case are now just realizing this. Sure they may not pay themselves but someone has to pay eventually.

Isn’t it concerning that tests are $450? How is that acceptable? Nothing in life is free. We are paying for them one way or another.

I paid same day the set out of pocket price when I made appt and I think it was 175 for PCR. Maybe 195.

It was in my name so it wasn’t fraud to deposit it

This is one of the paragraph from Sameday regarding insurance or billing

"... Under the Cares Act Section 4201, COVID-19 testing and/or complimentary COVID-19 consultations are 100% free of cost to patients whether their insurance company is in-network with Sameday Health or not.
