Most women don't define themselves as "wife of X" as a core part of their identity, even if they have a great marriage.

Not all that many years ago (and I'm not old!) did women feel the need to publicly define themselves and make such pronouncements to the world. Really, who cares?

Someone in a group I'm in has in her profile: "Twin Mother..Widow. Author*. Dog Whisperer. Seeker of Truth." I cringe for her.

For some reason it sounds like you are subservient to your husband if you label yourself as “wife of ___,” particularly if he makes more money than you do.
