Patients who have recovered from COVID-19 can continue to have detectable SARS-CoV-2 RNA in upper respiratory specimens for up to 3 months after illness onset. However, replication-competent virus has not been reliably recovered and infectiousness is unlikely.
Can you find where this preliminary data has changed CDC guidelines? It is not clear that the people who still had detectable RNA were not symptomatic.
I know this seems off-topic, but I think it is relevant for people who may chose to opt-out of testing because of previous infection.

Magruder just informed us kids will be both PCR and rapid tested upon return.
Anonymous wrote:Just notify the school. They take them off the list. I’d that doesn’t work, they can just not show up for testing. They don’t come grab them out of class at our HS. Kids are told that they should report for testing at a certain time if opted in. Nobody notices if kids are missing.

Yes there is. You are wrong.
There is PCR testing. My elementary school student has had 3 PCR tests.
Am I going to sound like a crazy person if I ask if the PCR test is done in a well-ventilated room with a HEPA filter running and the kids are masked immediately before and after? Yes? I don't care. That needs to be standard.
