Why not cancel only indoor activities? What's the harm for outdoor activities?

If kid sports are canceled, why are adult gyms still open? Gyms are even holding non-maksed and non-distanced group classes without requiring vaccination. The county should shut those down long before kid outdoor activities are closed.

But parks and rec sports aren't canceled (yet) and they use APS facilities. My kid plays Saturday morning and house basketball. Wonder if those will be canceled too. I don't think aps swim school is canceled yet either

I think it makes sense. They’re trying to slow the spread. I think your kid will live without basketball or whatever for two weeks.

So I guess you can quibble with my wording, but what I meant is it's not a desperate hospital situation here in Arlington right now. And I don't think kids' activities are going to be the tipping point, esp. as many others have pointed out when we haven't taken other drastic steps like closing indoor dining. Which, by the way, I won't eat indoors right now, but I will let my kids play basketball with masks on.

This pretty much says it all about Arlington parents. PP will protect themselves by not eating indoors, but will force coaches, refs and others to face additional exposure by forcing them to hold games. Selfish.

No, you don't get it. These people won't be happy if they have to make one single alteration or sacrifice. They don't believe in that.

They’re anaphylactically allergic to any inconvenience.

Good. Glad someone is being smart and responsible, since so many parents aren’t.

It’s two weeks, people. Lighten up. Your precious little snowflakes will get through this.

COVID will be here forever. Our athletes are vaccinated too and tested often. This is just a move to appease the Zero COVID screamers (Smart Restart has already Tweeted their approval of harming kids by canceling extracurriculars).

We have a mental health crisis going on with kids right now but APS doesn’t care.

Your current school board cares nothing about your children.

Those are voluntary closures. Big difference.

Exactly, these cancellations were reactive. These cancellations are proactive.

LOL, no one ever pays attention to hockey. But the NHL postponed/cancelled week+ of games. They started up some again, but nothing in Canada (which has stricter protocols).
