But why? If your kid is in a toddler seat, they can sit up in a stroller. If you have an infant, just buy a seat that reclines and has a five point harness.
I'm assuming travel means not having your carseat installed in your private vehicle, which means lugging it around. Wouldn't it be easier to have wheels? Car seat + luggage + kid = too much
At that age, we checked our travel car seat bag (it's free) and used an umbrella stroller in the airport (you can check that at the gate).
You don't want to haul a convertible seat onto the airplane. Your kid won't be comfortable, and they will kick the hell out of the seat in front of them. If you're getting them their own seat, use a CARES harness.
They're supposed to be in a carseat anyway and you're depending on the airline to not lose your carseat.
