The wrangler is a little “sissy” but cool. I owned a Wrangler and loved it. But really it was girls 18-28 who liked it more.

I also owned a 1976 Jeep CJ7 Bicentennial edition with the Levi seat package, V8 engine, Eagle on hood from factory and a three inch lift kit, tow hitch and a winch with push bars. Add to fun factory CB and ten foot CB antenna.

That one with top down on highway was the best as everyone loved it. I had 25 year old girls and 75 year old men admiring it. Maybe something like that or old school restomod Bronco convertible.

I want to buy a 1979s Plymouth trail duster. Really cool pickup truck convertible briefly offered that attracts a crowd. It is four wheel drive too.

Ironically, our son had one of these and he traded it in for a Grand Cherokee about a year out of college because he felt it looked too immature (and it was fairly uncomfortable). This is not a daily driver for any adult man with a real career. Your hubby will look like a dunce going through a mid-life crisis pulling up to work in this or God forbid clients see him in this. However, it is acceptable as either a weekend (third) car and/or a car you park at your beach house or a second home in Florida.

Careful. He will look like one of those MAGA DBs driving around with their “don’t tread on me” Wranglers.

NP. I did this just shy of 40yo. I always wanted a Jeep when I was younger but could never really justify the cost and it wasnt practical when my kids were very young. So when they got old enough where car seats weren't needed and my salary grew enough I went ahead with it. Had it for about 5 years then sold it for an SUV after the enjoyment waned and I decided to get another SUV.

Were they practical for a family like ours at the time, not so much - but they weren't that challenging and our kids loved it too. FWIW I've seen many adult men and women driving them. They only jeeps that scream college kid to me are the modified jeeps with lift kits and over sized tires.

Encourage him to get the car! If you can afford it, why fight it because of what other people may think? It’s just a car. I’ve wanted one since I was 16. Finally bought it in my forties and I love driving it. Puts a smile on my face even though my brain knows it’s a ridiculous car.

Plus Wranglers hold their value extremely well - so if you have buyer’s remorse in a year, you can easily trade it in without a huge loss.

My kid wants a Wrangler when he starts driving. I've rented two Wranglers in the past year or so and enjoyed it thoroughly both times. The last time was a lifted 4-door to drive on pretty tame trail roads. I'm looking forward to getting one for my kid so that I can also get wheel time. I don't care if it looks like I am borrowing my kid's car.

Instead of the Rubicon, I might go for a 4 door Willy because that's plenty off-road for me, I mean for my kid.

It’s not odd if he’s been wanting one for awhile and the timing didnt work out before because it wasn’t practical for family life. I’m all for a fun vehicle if it’s not a financial burden to own it. I don’t get why there are all these comments about a mid life crisis unless he’s picking up his girlfriend in it.

I have a coworker who is in his 60's. He has a four door version of this vehicle. I don't see why you should have a problem with this.

My wife and I purchased a 2 door Jeep wrangler earlier this year. It’s a lot of fun for us. Especially with the top down. They are not practical. Really no storage area for groceries or transporting anything. It’s a pain to get in the back seat. 95% of the time it’s just us. So no worries about adults getting in the back.

Dad down the street has one. Seems to be going thru a mid life crisis, but I guess the Jeep is better than other options.
