She sounds fantastic to me. The entire Youngkin administration will be a breath of fresh air.

Charter schools for kids with dyslexia substantially outperform public schools. I would love to see one in FCPS for the kids whose families can’t afford private remediation or private dyslexia schools.

Parents should be very optimistic about the changes.

Absolutely this. January can't come soon enough.

Minnesota? Not Massachusetts? This woman moves around a lot. Does she bring her kids with her for the moves?

She's never been a teacher - just a policy maker and data cruncher, which makes her the obvious pick. Wouldn't want anyone with any actual understanding of how anything really works in the classroom. Last sec of ed under republicans was just like her, which is how we teachers ended up with "accountability" policies that were so nonsensical they literally made children and teachers cry.

After reading the article above, I’m sure she’ll just be a figurehead…much like DeVos.

What a predictable, low-intelligence response. It makes me that more eager to see her come in and upset your apple cart.

Just having a Secretary of Education focus on the education part of their title will be such a welcome change.

+1

FCPS board thinks they equity, climate change, world peace is within their preview. Education seems to be a sideshow.

I'll be curious if he actually is able to raise teacher salaries while also implementing the tax cuts he has promised. I'm doubtful that will happen. I'll be shocked if FCPS teachers received the next round of raises given under Northam so I don't see it happening under Youngkin.

Good Question.

An even better question would be "what changes taking place in FCPS actually align with One Fairfax?"

Apart from the TJ admissions changes, I can't think of any.

Most of the advisors are huge charter advocates. If I had to bet, I’d say charters are first priority, making sure CRT isn’t taught and bad books are banned will be number 2, and the rest will be 3.

Well at least charters and CRT are education related. Our current school board argued about Israel/Palestine and other social justice issues the majority of their term.
