Agree with this mostly. However, making an all-star team at a camp/showcase can help you get invited to many of the invite-only showcases for freshman and sophomores.
In my opinion the "invite only" showcases are that in name mostly. If you kid is playing club and you see s showcase that is invite only and you want to go, tell you club coach and they should be able to make it happen. If you don't play club, ask your HS coach and again they should be able to make it happen. There are only a few real "we've seen you play and you are on our radar" invite only showcases.
