+1 they want companionship on their terms. They don’t want a real relationship or to treat a woman as an equal. They also want dates and going places in public, or a travel partner to bring along, so more than just BJ’s from a prostitute.
It seems incredibly sketchy and risky to me as a woman.

I've talked about this here before but I was a sugar baby briefly ~15 years ago. I never had sex or anything close to it, really. I think I made out with one of the guys but I probably would've done that even if he hadn't just taken me on a shopping spree.

Money and the boost in knowing that some guy will pay to be with them, making them feel desirable.

DP, it's about the experiences that an older, more established guy can curate and provide for them. Those do require money to a certain extent, but it's not exclusively cold hard cash. It's status, access, experience and know how.

Women are more open, responsive and interested on sugar sites. On traditional dating apps they are way more flaky and inundated with attention from low value men, which means you don't get the best ROI on time invested. On a sugar site you are, presumably, pre-vetted as at least have something of "value" to offer, so women are on better behavior.
