In the "olden days" mom would make a glaze and put pineapples or cloves all over the outside and bake it. That's the traditional way to serve.

Also, if you’ll be eating leftover ham in sandwiches, do yourself a favor and buy Honeybaked Ham’s honey mustard mayo.

I agree with pp: room temperature. I take a quarter ham out of the fridge an hour before serving. At a half hour, it’s still cold.
