I have a 2020 Ascent—40k miles. The only times Eyesight has disengaged is in severe weather or when there is still frost at the top of the windshield where the sensor is. There have been a few times when the rain has really not been hard and it’s disengaged and I’ve been surprised.

I’ve had the three red lights and beeps occur when I think I’m totally fine and confident in terms of distance. I’ve never had it actually engage the break when I’ve been confident, except several times in reverse. When backing up to park, there have been times, typically when there are trees and brush behind us, when the break has engaged, and the feeling and sound is very startling especially when in your mind there is no danger and you’re just trying to park.

I despise the transmission in my Ascent. I keep cars for a long time and don’t want to lose money by getting rid of it now that it’s nearly paid off, but I kind of wish I could get rid of it. I otherwise really like the interior and how it steers. The acceleration/gear shifting is just so rough/not smooth. I thought I would get used to it and I just needed to learn the acceleration (as cars drive differently). 2.5 years in, I still hate that part of it. I have no issues with DH’s Buick, my parents’ Acura, my friend’s Highlander, but the Ascent (or at least mine) is not smooth in acceleration.

Yeah this happens to me too. It is startling but I’m trying to use it as a prompt to drive more conservatively. But in thick city traffic sometimes it does go off and I think it’s unreasonable.

pp here.. it happens even if my foot is off the break and slowing down going like 10 mph because I see that the car in front is about to turn, so I don't hit the breaks but I do slow down enough to let the car turn, and I can see that the car is turning its wheel to make the turn. But eyesight will still engage. That's the kind of thing that is annoying AF as a pp stated.

It doesn't beep if you use your turn signal when changing lanes/merging.

No, I turned off the lane drift thing. It’s the collision avoidance that will sometimes beep if I’m merging behind a car and getting too close to it. Happens in heavy traffic. Also sometimes if I’m behind a car that is turning (so will be gone when I get there).

I have the Ascent, and there are times when the eyesight brake engages (ex. if someone in front of me slows down to turn right at an intersection). I'm comfortable with the distance, but the brake engages and its annoying AF. Doesnt happen often, but when it does, its startling. There's a setting on eyesight that allows you to adjust the distance at which eyesight is triggered. Lots of beeping that becomes white noise to the driver, but enough beeping that my kids keep asking "what's that for?", "whys it beeping?"
