Yes, I mean a 1/2 beef tenderloin.

Why can’t you just cut one in half?

Because I don’t want to buy a whole one. My family won’t eat frozen meat.

Wow, ok. Well... you don't have to tell them it was previously frozen.

They can tell. Maybe it’s my freezer. It just tastes off.

Are you just freezing it in a big open container? Are you freezing it after it's been cooked?

I worked in food service since I was a teen and freezing meet is incredibly common.

I'm in "flyover country" all of December and this local grocery store has super small in-house filet mignons that we constantly buy. $10 or $11 for two perfect tender small filets! It's insane. Even when we're back in DC we ask the butcher or Whole Foods to cut the filets in half. I personally can't stand the super thick filets. They're just too hard to cook at home.

This is easily the most asinine thing I've read on DCUM in awhile.

My family probably wouldn't eat frozen meat, either. Although they might try to eat a frozen beef tenderloin....

Oh lordy. You do realize that when you dine out, you are almost certainly eating previously frozen meat?

My butcherdboulls out the whole one, asks how much I want, and cuts it for me.

OP,

Did you know that frozen vegetable packets are usually richer in nutrients than fresh, because people rarely eat fresh veggies at their peak, whereas vegetables meant to be frozen are picked at peak freshness?

Also, unless you throw food in the freezer without wrapping it and it gets freezer burn, frozen meat is the same the fresh meat.

+1 What? As long as you freeze it properly and use it within a reasonable time you literally cannot taste any difference.

Maybe you could give the other half to a less fortunate family? Maybe they'd even be willing eat previously-frozen filet mignon.
