They’re out of ideas as to what they can do legally. The vaccine mandate through OSHA is dying in the courts. Lockdowns are off the table, and the Feds don’t have the power to enact a national mask mandate. New vaccinations are at about 500K a day.

In terms of mitigating Covid, the government has done all it can. It’s time for them to pivot to the reality of living with it long term as a society.

This is why people could sit in a bar and watch a football game last winter while my K kid did virtual school.

Because $ makes the world go around and to be fair, lots of people's jobs are tied up in keeping the whole infrastructure churning.

You walk through security at an airport, and can spend your entire time waiting for your plane maskless, shoulder to shoulder with other people, at the airport bar. It's all theater at this point.

The airlines have no desire to be the vaccination police. This would be a huge burden, and wouldn't make any meaningful difference to the spread of covid. Covid is in every state already.

Rapid tests don’t even work that well on asymptomatic people.

I think the requirements alone may make people more reluctant to travel which I guess reduces the spread. But actually testing the day before is a joke and doesn't prevent a heck of a whole lot. You can test, go about your day potentially catch Covid and bring it with you. Or you could dot be at a point where you test positive yet and still bring it with you.
