False. You can tell when morons are driving with high beams on because the headlight patterns are different for regular lights vs high beams. People in the DMV are absolute idiots. So ma ymorons driving around constantly with their high beams on blinding everyone on the road. They need to be taken to back alley and have their headlights smashed.

Some cars auto-dim their high beams when another vehicle is detected. Very nice feature!

Very stupid feature, and irresponsible to rely on. The moment you see another car, that's when you should turn off your high beams. Not when they're 20 feet away.

If your car has this feature and it doesn’t dim the lights until the other car is 20 feet away, it is broken. Mine works great and dims the lights as soon as another car is visible. Sometimes it catches too much reflection from road signs or guardrails and dims which is quite annoying but it definitely won’t blind other drivers.

I flash people who have their high beams on, or no lights on at all. They do nothing, because they're complete morons and should have their licenses revoked.

This. My 2022 SUV vehicle has super bright regular lights, nothing I can do.

This, my 2020 has LED lights that are super bright. That's just how they are. Deal with it.

You may also just have to deal with it when I hit you in a head on collision. Ooops!

DP with another car with LED headlights. The lights are DOT-approved standard equipment. The federal govt says they’re fine. In other words, Joe Biden abd Mayor Pete are fine with my headlights. Are you saying those guys don’t know what they’re talking about?

And if you run into me, I won’t have to deal with anything. I’ll leave that to my PI attorney, who will burying your ass in civil discovery motions looking for every little spot where we can squeeze yet another dollar out of you. So go ahead, run into me. PLEASE!

NP. Wow, you managed to be even more charming.

If that’s true then DOT should change the regs. I don’t blame drivers who have them — most people don’t buy cars based on the headlights and it’s not their fault. But they are blinding, there are annoying, and they come across as hostile even if not.

Wish the super bright lights would be banned.

You can get a traffic ticket for driving with your brights on - following other vehicles or into oncoming traffic. Come on people stop with the high beams it's blinding! And stop flashing your high beams into the rear window of the vehicle in front of you because you think they should drive faster. It's dangerous and ILLEGAL!

Virginia law:
Drivers must dim high beams when approaching traffic within 500 feet. Drivers also must dim high beams when they are following within 200 feet of another vehicle.
