I am not understanding why Central Office keeps putting forward plans for staff to work less. I sure hope Dr. McKnight doesn’t permanently become Superintendent if this is her idea of how to run a school system. OP is right - MCPS and the Board is a mess.

Three half days isn't going to impact instructional time. They need to use the time they have in school more wisely. Most kids who had issues leaning online didn't participate or even log on or do the work nor had involved parents monitoring things. So, MCPS slowed down the curriculum and punished the kids participating vs. failing those kids who didn't do the work.

The issue with the curriculum is its not a full curriculum and only for math and language arts. For language arts, they also need to be teaching spelling, grammar, and more reading comprehension. They need to bring back novels and literature. The current curriculum is very basic and the teachers don't even follow the workbooks they are given. For math, science and history, they need to bring back traditional textbooks. The math is a joke as the teachers don't use the workbooks, which aren't bad, and its a free for all with teaching. Some kids need that extra support from reading vs. hearing. And, the curriculum is slowed down and dumbed down. Everything in MS is now called honors and they don't have different levels so kids who are struggling don't get what they need and kids who need it faster don't get what they need. If this is equity, its a huge equity fail.

I'm interested in why the board is voting on legislation that Maryland delegates are supposed to be voting on? The board should be focused upon their own work. Their vote doesn't even count, correct?

There was a screw-up with the parliamentary procedure at the last meeting. They are having a new meeting on Tuesday to have a re-do. That's it. Nothing scandalous.

I have been saying this and I was told a "MCPS hater." A lot of parents are blind to see the reality.

No final exams in HS. A student must take AP or IB exams to get a "final."
