Bowser actually said they would be doing pedestrian enforcement too, which is utterly ridiculous.

No, because what we are talking about is related. MPD ticketing cars means nothing if people suffer no consequences when they don't pay their tickets.

Bowser’s ridiculous 7 cop plan for enforcement around schools is a direct response to the criticism she’s getting about out of state drivers and the multiple pedestrians who have been killed this year.

Okay so people are complaining (shocked) about the lack of enforcement for MD and VA cars and not the original intention of the post about enforcement of people following traffic rules by schools.
Should I add that my kid has an IEP and it’s hard on me because I have to do everything and can’t see my kid in their classroom and everything is for theater and does nothing real.

It is bizarre that in this used car market, DC is not ticketing and towing as many cars as possible and then auctioning off the ones that aren't claimed. They are sitting on a gold mine. And they could hire people and pay them well, which is one of Bowser's big issues ("pathways to the middle class"). And people wouldn't have so much trouble finding parking if tons of cars with lots of tickets are towed off the street. And it would cut down on speeding. DC could absolutely boot and/or tow MD/VA cars with unpaid tickets and hold them until the tickets are paid. But they won't.
The reciprocity regarding not renewing registration is a red herring. I mean, it could work. But DC has tools available that we are ABSOLUTELY not using.
I have a terrible feeling that we are heading toward the city declaring ticket amnesty and wiping the slates clean and then promising future enforcement. Which... doesn't make anyone, especially kids around schools, safer.

Which part do you not understand?
Currently, there is no enforcement mechanism for DC. So we can ticket MD and VA drivers, but if they don’t pay their tickets, there’s absolutely nothing we can do, because Virginia and Maryland refuse to suspend plates/licenses of people who rack up unpaid fines in DC. So you have extremely dangerous out of state drivers with thousands of dollars in tickets continuing to drive recklessly.
Bowser was supposed to approach MD and VA about fixing the is situation. She said she had. Turns out she didn’t and lied about it.
Next time you’re almost run over by a Maryland driver, run the plate. Bet you’ll find a ton of unpaid tickets.
Don't understand why DC is normalizing this. It's like when DC offered first round of vaccine to MD and VA workers coming in, and residents were scratching their heads. What is the hold MD and VA have on Bowser? Of course I want good relations and there is some rationale that our dates are intertwined, but that includes mutual respect for laws.
