It has to sit in a large pot of cold water in the refrigerator, changing the water every half hour or so.

Very proud of how the food came out — it was my first time cooking a traditional thanksgiving dinner (even if it was for a crowd of two only — yay leftovers). Turkey breast was probably best I’ve had — dry brined for about 20 hours and pulled it when internal temp at thickest spot was at 154. I made my own turkey stock with roasted turkey wings/veg in advance, which was critical. Stuffing was a little burnt on the bottom but I just pulled the ok parts into a serving bowl. The only processed/prepared thing I used was Libby’s pumpkin.

First thanksgiving with just me, my teen sons and my partner (not new but first year just us 4). Had Cajun stuffed chicken instead of turkey. I did all the cooking with younger son. Food was great and more importantly we are really starting to gel as a crazy blended family. Happiest holiday I’ve had in a very long time!

Perfect mashed potatoes.

We catered the meal. Huge win.

The chicken (I don't like turkey) wasn't done in time for dinner, but nobody cared since the sides were so good.

+1. The pumpkin swirl cheesecake has become a “new tradition” in our household according to my middle schooler. Will try the pecan pie bars for Christmas. Thanks. Looking ahead, her recipe for hot cross buns is also quite good.

We made chocolate cake with a peanut butter buttercream that was amazing. We also used her gingerbread recipe and cut outs to make a gingerbread house last year. The house was strong enough to stand (even decorated), and the gingerbread was actually tasty.

Teamwork! DD, home from college, took charge of the turkey, which was amazingly juicy and yummy with her herb butter. She also made irresistible garlic mashed potatoes. DS made pumpkin pie to die for -- smooth and silky with just a touch of all your favorite Thanksgiving spices, and apple crisp that was even better! DH kept the drinks flowing and set a festive table; then he toiled in the scullery so that all was shining and clean by the time we went to bed. And I got to play to my strengths, making sure the trains ran on time.

It’s pretty clear that the Christian poster was concerned that the guests would be unkind or disrespectful to their Christian hosts, but all went well. But by your comment, you have brilliantly managed to both cruelly cut down this family (calling pp a braggart and unloving), and, somehow, made them out to be villains.

Americas test kitchen best light recipe Mac and cheese. I usually use the Martha Stewart recipe but this has significantly less fat and tasted great (Though I used full fat cheese so mine was not as light as the recipe itself).
