What about a balance board? Personally I think it’s a great gift for everybody! My dh bought me one, I’m 53, I love it as do my kids and my 5 yr old nephew!

PP here. I just posted above suggesting a necklace or jewelry. This is a great recommendation!

Jewelry is a big risk for athletic girls who don’t like to shop. I felt that I was being passive-aggressively called “airhead/wh*re.”

I like this idea bc it’s sentimental and lasts for years. A nice ring could also be nice. I’m not a big jewelry person but my godmother has great taste in jewelry and has gotten me a few necklaces over the years. I often wear them for ‘luck’ and they make me feel connected to her and like I’m loved. I think this kind of gift is more ‘meaningful’ than a trendy one-off like the suggestions for Glossier etc. Another idea is to do something special together like high tea at a hotel. I used to do that with my grandmother and I loved it. It felt special and magical wifi the scones and was something I looked forward to even as an adult! She might be too young but depending on your location a Korean spa or spa time together. Basically anything that is bonding and also creates a tradition and personal connection between the two of you. The Nutcracker ballet together is another option.

Let us know what you decide!

It was one of those things I really liked over the years and still wear when I want good luck (like I wore it when I took the GREs.)

Nice idea but she’s a more advanced cook than this looks like it is geared to… any more challenging something in this ilk?

Fresh baked cookie crate. Bonus is that the cookies are always really yummy.

There are whimsical ski helmet covers, and pull on-onesie type of covers to wear over ski suits with interesting designs -- it looks fun when you are coming downhill.

Snowboard or ice skating lessons?

Indoor climbing lessons/gear?

A slackline

My 11 year old received a subscription to Owl Crate Jr and absolutely loves it - maybe look at that (or the regular version if the jr books seem too young.)

She is newly 12, in 7th grade and basically has everything she wants but is a lovely, sweet, unspoiled and hardworking kid so I definitely want to get her a nice gift or two for Christmas. I also am spending the holidays with her family for the first time in 2 years so really looking forward to that!

I’m already doing an “experience” gift for the whole family, and she doesn’t like to shop to the idea of taking her out shopping won’t work. She redid her room about 2 years ago so she doesn’t need room stuff, she loves to sing, act and plays several sports (volleyball, basketball, she’s an excellent skier). Loves to bake and cook but they have a beautiful huge kitchen with every gadget imaginable. She’s a recent vegetarian but of course she said she has several vegetarian cookbooks already (and the internet…)
Her parents have $$$$$ and she basically can get whatever she wants, within reason.

Any interesting, out of the box ideas?

Sounds like my DD and her friends.

Weighted stuffed animals are all the rage with her group of friends. These are not the ordinary, little-kid stuffed animals. These are weighted stuffies.

We got the basketball version of this for DD. Chose colors that matched her room and framed it so it was ready to hang. She loved it (and the seller was super easy to work with to get fonts and other details correct)
