Often men’s formulations (rogaine, generic, and other brands like ‘Hers’) have a higher percent of minoxidil (5%) vs women’s (2.5%). Women’s “extra strength” formulas usually have the same amount as men’s. The weaker concentration is supposed to work fine for women but men need a higher strength for it to be effective. From what I understand, it increases blood circulation to your scalp, it should not effect your hormones.

I use 5% with no issues.

I’m 33 and 5% rogaine has been a godsend. It’s the only thing that helped me regrow hair instead of just improving existing hair health. I also take an iron supplement which may or may not actually help.

Just reread your post which answers both questions. My bad. I just got really overexcited about sharing my experience with rogaine. I highly recommend it.

If you subscribe it is only $79/mo through their website. And it helps w/peri menopause symptoms. Completely nixed the monthly rage I had going on. It is lovely to once again have thick hair and no rage. Too bad it does nothing for wrinkles...

I would buy directly through Nutrafol. I just the Nutrafol Balance vitamins, not the serum. Going through their site you can meet (at no charge) with an ND who will help you decide.

Is this safe to take? How many tablets do you take - one daily?

Here’s an idea: how about an appointment with a dermatologist? Likely they will order blood work and if that is normal, suggest daily Rogaine and possibly prescribe Spironolactone. There are no magic supplements or juices that will restore your hair. Sorry. Buy a topper, get creative with layers and headbands.
