Mine started dropping off her growth curve around 12 months because my milk was turning into skim milk. They need full fat dairy at that age. 2-3x a day is enough. Also now is a good time to stop nursing to sleep if you're still doing that.

I nursed my older dcs until 2+ years but it really helps to be on a schedule in the second year. Baby will get used to the consistent schedule and it will be better for you too.

For my 15 month old, I am nursing after breakfast, after lunch, at bedtime. For my first dcs who were in daycare at that age, nursing at wake-up, after pick-up, and bedtime worked well. I think we dropped the middle one right around this age. They also nursed on demand a lot in their first year, but slid happily into a more consolidated, consistent schedule.

I don’t think so. She doesn’t seem to have any separation anxiety. She signs to nurse during the weekends at the same rate as she does during the week. She also asks for her nanny and signs to go outside with nanny and happily says bye-bye to me. She can see me when I’m workin too (open office just around the corner from living room) so she knows I’m there.

So how many times a day are you nursing?

Roughly 8 to 10 times. Only two true sessions - the rest just a few minutes.

It’s not the same thing. Older kids stay on the breast for maybe one or two minutes during the day. It’s just a touchstone and more emotional than nutritional.
