We do not bring a gift. Child often makes homemade card.

I don't take a gift and it feels awesome showing up and having fun without the inconvenience of shopping.

Bring a handmade card but please, NO GIFTS.

I've had no gift parties since my kids started having them because I have a joint birthday for them since they are close in age with birthdays days apart. People always bring gifts regardless. Some don't, but half to three quarters do. This year I put "gifts not necessary" because I knew people would bring them anyway--to be fair, I only invited the kids closest friends and their friends REALLY want to bring them gifts..but I don't want the stuff, now my kids aren't really interested in toys or things they don't want or need...so I may make a strict no gifts policy down the road and donate anything to Toys for Tots or somewhere like that.

I’ve done no gift parties because there is already too much plastic in my house. But people don’t always read the invite all the way. I’ve actually done it myself. It’s not a big deal if someone does bring a gift, but also I don’t notice who does/doesn’t and I don’t do thank you cards for no gift parties.

Cards, sometimes my kid will put in some of those big stickers you can put on a water bottle or a favorite candy from 5 below.

We have been to 2 “no gift” parties recently. My kids made homemade bday cards/drawings for their friends and in 1 case made a homemade beaded necklace for the birthday girl (other party was for a boy and they didn’t think he’d want a necklace and we couldn’t think of another comparable homemade gift).

If anyone else brought more than that to either party I didn’t notice. I think someone put some small candies in their homemade card.

I have my kid make a card (or decorate one they picked out). Went to one this weekend where maybe 1/3 of the guests, judging by gift table, brought gifts. I admit that I still feel a little weird, but I have to assume the parents are telling the truth and don't want guests to bring gifts.

I think kids still like a personal card from their friend, though. At least my kids do.

It's fine to hate no gift parties; don't host any. But please respect the wishes of the people throwing this party.

And yes, a card.

It’s also tacky to bring your $20 plastic piece of crap. You never know someone’s living situation. Maybe they’re minimalists or live in a tiny home.

Or the parents are about to move. We got a no gifts invite where the family was about to move overseas (military officer family).

The people who want no gifts please really…do not want gifts. Don’t bring one. Maybe a card or something usable.
