And yeah, the “competitive private school” comment was a mistake. Very sorry- I’m just in a bad place tonight and I sincerely apologize to anyone I offended.

Give me a break.

If you think college is so inconsequential and unnecessary, why are you in the College and University discussion forum? Do you also hang out in the Fashion and Beauty forum telling people that the hottest people you know don't exercise or brush their teeth?

My cousin is a Master Electrician and he had comparable scores to my brother and I who were accepted into top colleges. My cousin wanted to be an electrician. He had no interest in college. Accomplishing his goal wasn't some sort of consolation prize. And honestly, most kids who don't have solid scores and grades probably couldn't make it to the top of that trade. For those of you who think you're being respectful of people in the trades by scolding OP, you're actually doing the exact opposite.

Exactly. And don’t forget op’s kid goes to a competitive school so it not some scrub at a second tier private. Op-I’m sorry for your kid but you need to snap out of it and don’t be such a snob.
Oh stop. I know exactly what OP means. Several years ago my kid got 1370 on the SAT and DCUMers were telling me with a score like that he should consider going to community college.
