Dude you really don't have a good assessment of the ladies of DCUM if you think that we all wanted schools open. Or even that the Janney moms wanted schools open.
DCUM moms largely were (and still are) wildly risk-averse and were totally freaking out about opening in the midst of delta.

There's a vast section of this city that's also probably going to just remember Black Lives Matter plaza (which I don't think is a bad thing). Bowser made a massive, permanent, central monument to a moment/movement, and I would imagine that would go pretty far in terms of the less engaged voter.
I think you're misreading the public. There's a lot of anger out there over schools. Incumbents across the board are going to get slaughtered.
But Robert White can, in no way, harness that anger. If anything, he's far, far worse when it comes to school opening. I LOL at thinking of him trying to harness any anti-union sentiments, because he is so supported by the teachers' union. I would be totally thrilled if he did decide to throw the WTU and their support under the bus, though.
I agree that someone could come in and try to harness the anger, but it ain't going to be the people currently in the race.

That's just not even remotely true.
I'm not sure there's a single city in America, besides San Francisco, that kept schools closed longer than D.C. We are an extreme outlier in how long we kept kids out of school.
Burbio ranked states -- and no, DC isn't a state and is more comparable to a city -- but as a state DC was last in terms of the number of in-person student-hours last year.

+1. I'm no fan of Bowser and the idiotic Democrats who run this city, but OP, if you think that any of the realistic candidates for Mayor will be better than Bowser on this issue, you are wrong. Please do not throw your vote and energy away on some fringe candidate in DC who truly has no chance of being elected. I'm a strong Republican, but have accepted the landscape in DC.
At least Bowser stood up to the nuts who wanted to continue unlimited online learning for any parent who demands it. That's about as good as we're going to get here.
Yeah, I take my anger out on 1) Robert White, and 2) my Council members. I've begun to write my Council members all.of.the.time.

DC had kids in classrooms watching their teachers on zoom. That's not opening and it's not opening completely.
