Parents may not want the goody bags but kids look forward to it whether it is junk or not. And a $5 gift card does not give the same satisfaction plastic crap gives. I am not being sarcastic.

My kid likes crafty things. We went to Michaels and chose a very small craft kit. I swear the display was made for party favors for this age range. We also bought a large pack of colorful pencils with cute erasers there.

Books, balls, jump ropes, fidgets, matchbox cars, punch balloons, large bubble wands. Just single items so you don't need the bags.

Do a piñata and they take home a bag of candy. No super wasteful plastic toys and it's consumable so parents can dole it out as desired.

Pop rocks!! These were a HUGE hit when we gave them out at my kid’s 7th birthday. They are just unique enough to be fun, but consumable and no plastic trash. We also gave out gum.

I did a joke book, pop it, and a small lego.

I just let my kids pick out candy and it's a bag of that for each person. Great way to get rid of Halloween candy right now!

Another vote here for no favors! They typically just end up in the trash.

I have taken my 7 year old to four parties over the past 6 weeks and we didn’t get a single goodie bag at any party. These were all school friends from a private VA elementary school. I didn’t see any child whining about not getting one. I say don’t do one. The kids will get over it.

Maybe a custom cookie or treat from a local store? Something special but also edible. I personally would prefer that to a gift certificate, bc it would be less work for me! We also did a waterfun party and sent them home as the favor this year. That wouldn’t work for November, but maybe some cool nerf footballs or something that could be played with and then taken home? Depends on the numbers tho, we had a small party so it was not too pricey.
