I suggest trying the Jeep. They hold resale value better than almost anything else on the road. Try one. Check that box. If you like it, you will be hooked. If not, sell it and move on to something else.
Check out local Facebook groups for Jeep events such as group trips to Peters Mill or local breweries. Check out the Jeep wave on YouTube. Check out Jeep ducking. Does any of that seem appealing?
I've been a jeep owner for 25 years and various models of wrangler. (1) The Rubicon is 100% better than any of the others and has most of the comforts of the Sahara without screaming the furthest offroad I've ever been is the parking lot at Gold Cup and (2) Don't duck jeeps -- its lame.

Jeeps are for people who want to show the world that they have more money than sense and don't give a shite about the next generation, given they pollute a ton, don't have reliable parts, and are expensive to buy and maintain.
Jeeps are no better or worse than many other vehicles. You are just jealous. Ours has been very reliable and no issues.
PP you replied to. My priorities are: as least polluting as possible, reliable and not a pain to maintain. Which leaves me with boring/small/electric cars, and that's fine with me. They just get me from A to B. It's sad your identity is so wrapped up in your car's brand that you disregard essential criteria.
I completely agree with you that Jeeps are no better or worse than many other ridiculously polluting eyesores. At least you don't drive a Hummer.
