I can think of many reasons that are pro-education.
Youngkin appealed to middle-class White women who wanted their kids to get in-person instruction during a pandemic and are sure their kids need accelerated math, regardless of whether those kids actually develop a full understanding of math.
They are going to be very upset when their kids aren't actually math geniuses and Youngkin guts the budgets of Virginia's public universities.
No they’re gonna get $20k vouchers to Calvary Christian Fellowship Agape Evangelical Charter School and learn accelerated math and never have to read garbage like Pulitzer Prize winner and Ap Lit exam frequent-flyer Toni Morrison.
And that 20k with come with some many strings that no established school with even consider touching it.

Why do you say that? Youngkin won and the Democrats lost largely because of their stances on education. Local Democrat SB's have increasingly watered it down.

The first place I saw a real solid description of VMPI was a newspaper article from a deep red district. It was definitely causing them to make changes. That means without it they don't have to make those changes. But way to show your class snobbery...
Abandoning VMPI would mean no school systems would need to change their math curriculum to comply with VMPI standards. But it would not force any school systems to offer accelerate mah beyond what they already offer.

Those are the places that VMPI (alternate math paths) would have helped the most.
