Roasted root vegetables... include fennel bulb. It's delicious roasted.

I like the idea of a kale salad with shaved parm and roasted pecans or walnuts.

Agree with this or the green bean salad.

Adding another vegetable that is roasted, doesn't provide a new texture. Acid and crispness is a nice change.

I would do roasted Brussels with cranberries and pecans.

My family’s corn pudding is dead simple and everyone’s favorite

1 package jiffy corn muffin mix
1 can creamed corn
1 can regular corn
1 8 oz container of sour cream
1 stick of melted butter

Mix it all and bake at 365 for one hour

My MIL made this one year for Thanksgiving and we all liked it, and now...every time she cooks. So if you start a new dish don't include it all the time.

Add a tiny bit of nutmeg to the batter.

Also, I use a bag of frozen corn instead of the plain canned. It tastes better.

If you’re looking for a salad with great flavor and texture, you can’t do much better than this:

I have successfully swapped chopped apple for the pomegranate seeds in the past; don’t skimp on the dressing.

I mean most people only eat this once a year. If she makes it every year who cares. Most people eat their favorite holiday foods every year.

I like these ideas, will add color too. I like roasted Brussel sprouts but thats not always a crowd pleaser. Or roast sweet potatoes, dressing, broccoli/cauliflower gratin, corn pudding, so many options.

Anonymous wrote:IMO you don’t have enough sides. We all love the sides. Mashed potatoes and green beans are fine but that’s also just a regular weeknight dinner pair of sides. Thanksgiving is for decadent casseroles and elaborate sides. I’d add 2-3 more. Maybe a salad with cranberries and walnuts and blue cheese but then at least one rich gooey casserole or potato dish, go for the candied yams or sweet potatoes or a corn pudding or something.

Corn puddling is a good decision here.
