Triscuits are super low class and look like dog biscuits. Truscuuts arevwhat boomer consider the healthy cracker.

No they are the most deliciously salty. Are you thinking of a different cracker?

I feel like the highest class cracker would be the Scandinavian brown ones or something but they do not work with every dip. Or maybe broken lavash or crusty bread or something that's not technically a cracker....I'm not sure any crackers are especially classy.

No, I’m thinking of this gross thing.

Nothing hits like a saltine when sick

Saltines are also good crumbled up into clam chowder. And where do Wheat Thins fit in? Pedestrian with Ritz and Triscuits? Cause those are the three we normally stock in my house. Unless we're making clam chowder, then we add the Saltines.

Wheat Thins are a step below Ritz and the like, but are still in that Pedestrian category. They say, “We didn’t buy enough Ritz and are running out, so here’s a half-eaten and getting-stale box of Wheat Thins to supplement. We hope you leave soon.”

Oyster crackers go in clam chowder.

Oyster crackers go with chowder here.

OP - I love this so much! I am a big fan of Ritz and Club crackers with cheddar cheese. But definitely know that Carrs and Brie or other cheese varieties are what some think are better class and taste better on water crackers. I totally love when people serve crab dip w Club crackers. You and the Ritz/Club cracker crew are my favorite kind of ppl!!!

You should have immediately guided her back to main company and said, “Everyone, listen to this. Go on, tell them, Betty!” And then when she blusters, start laughing and say, “Betty just scolded me for serving Ritz because they are low-class crackers and said she was embarrassed for me. Was I the only one who didn’t know that crackers have class rankings? You guys let me serve you trashy food and no one even said anything” and laugh as if it was all a big joke that she was in on.

Yep, this is the way to play it. Or (loudly), “Oh Betty, it’s so rude to criticize what your hosts serves. Did you not know that? Were you not raised to know that? I am so embarrassed for you right now. Raised in a barn, oh dear oh dear.”

I am a member of a mayflower waspy New England family. What is super funny about your MILs reaction is that IME wasps LOVE ritz and club crackers - just make sure you only put out a few and that they are in a silver bowl .

Foodies, however, might call you to task for serving ritz …

Bwahaha ok then. Next time you need to up the ante with cocktail weenies and some kind of melted dip with velveeta. Now that you know it bothers her the sky is the limit!
