I still have the briefcase my now wife bought me for law school graduation. It seemed like a standard gift at the time.

She's getting an MBA and travels in circles where a Cartier is an acceptable gift for a BA from a godparent. I'm guessing she will be making far more than 50k unless she's working for a non-profit or in publishing while living off of mom and dad.
