When I do enjoy life most… traveling or not is when I meet interesting people.

One of my kids does. It is a battle to get her to travel. She sleeps badly in hotels and not at all on planes or trains.

Nope I love traveling. I love exploring new places and having new experiences that I can't have here. Like others I usually limit travel to under 2 weeks because after that I crave my routines.

I love to travel but I have noticed that when I was in my 20’s and living in a group house, staying in any hotel seemed like a fancy upgrade. Now, 30 years later, I live in a fancy, comfortable house so most hotels are less of a treat. If the bathroom doesn’t have heated stone floors, my feet are wishing I was home.

I can get tired of travelling after a certain amount of time. I find that 10 days away is ideal, longer than that I start itching for a return to normalcy and a routine.

I like my house but I'm happy to travel. I haven't travelled much since the pandemic hit but I'm looking forward to returning to exploring the world!

I have not been in vacation in 7 years. Don’t see the point.

Not travel-travel, but I did find that once we left our small city rowhouse for suburbia, we use our weekend place less than we used to.

Not as much need to escape to quiet/nature, because we have it at home.

As people earn more and become used to more comfort, and also get older and achier, they look for more comfortable traveling experiences.

I'm very picky and ever since I was able to plan my own travel, I've looked for clean accommodations. I've found that when reviews specifically point out the cleanliness of the room or rental, the rest is usually great too.
It's hard to maintain a rental to top levels of cleanliness, so someone who is willing to put in that effort will usually also make the space comfortable with lots of amenities.

Bought our retirement home during COVID. It is on a river in Charleston, SC; has a lush backyard with palm trees, pool and hot tub. Beautiful big porches and calming view. Yes, spending all of my free time there this year has made me much less excited to travel. It is a house that IS a vacation. Maybe the newness will wear off eventually.

I don't hate traveling but I find it hard to find a place to stay that's as comfortable as my own bed. Hotels are noisy, rentals often have old beds. I'm definitely getting old because in my 20's I went around Europe staying in hostels and didn't care a bit.

You can laugh about it, but it's something to watch for and be aware of, because it can snowball into *never* leaving your house. Anxiety tends to get worse if left untreated. I don't necessarily mean medication, but being self-aware and working on yourself using exposure-type therapy.

Agoraphobia, germophobia and hypochondria run in my father's side of the family. One aunt can't travel anymore, one cousin had to change jobs because she couldn't use public transport, and my father is slowly getting to the never-leave-the-house because he's afraid of germs.

OP, you have anxiety. Trust me...I have been there.
