Not for my kids, it wasn't. My kids thrived. It was probably one of the best years we have ever had as a family. The kids learned a lot because all of the bozo behavior problems weren't online and the teachers were rocking it. Plus we were all a lot more relaxed because the school schedule was so easy. It was a pita for my husband and me because we had to change our work schedules pretty dramatically but there is no denying that our kids thrived during hybrid.

Okay. However that doesn't mean you get to make false claims for the rest of us. My family did great as well. We could pivot back to hybrid very easily. In some ways I wish we would. What I'm hearing about some of these schools is very alarming.

I have no clue, but I was a republican until Trump. I will not vote for youngkin.

NP. The current board and Noonan have gone too far left and pushing many moderates to the right. We need people in FCCPS who will question Noonan. Many do not like the direction he is taking the schools. I think Noonan and the current board will certainly affect this school board election.

I’ll be shocked if Ilya Shapiro doesn’t win in FCCPS. I’ve voted Dem forever but I voted for him. The SB has 7 seats—one person can’t change any policy but he can force the others to be more open and have conversations in public rather than behind closed doors. I was really turned off in the last forum when one candidate said she believes all tough conversations should happen behind the scenes and that the SB shouldn’t have those conversations or criticize the Super in public or at meetings.

I’m in Arlington too and I worry a Republican Governor would make the locals go even more far left. And a Republican will never make it onto the SB. So I think we’re stuck with a SB that hides behind “equity” as an excuse to let all kids fall behind. It feels sort of hopeless.

I'm in Arlington. I'm so burned from last year--having my child an entire year behind in reading now despite us hiring a tutor for all of the school year. And the totally ridiculous close hold non-engagement of the school board and superintendent that I am open to entertaining options that shake these people up and move them out. I'm a Dem. I'm also a fed. employee that works on people issues and cases (not some abstract contracting or something), and if I were to attempt even a fraction of the insanity that has unfolded around here I would be in serious trouble. I work hard and am accountable for any successes and failures, and it is totally mind boggling that Arlington seems to be able to escape accountability throughout its whole local political system.
