OP here and yes, this. I've worked with my doctor for a while. I'm doing what she said (Miralax, water, fruits and veggies, exercise). It isn't working. I'm just getting my act together and seeing what others do. Why respond if you have nothing but judgement to contribute? Why on earth are you assuming I am not working with a doctor?

Waters like fiji brand have a mineral balance that helps. My kids love the pouch purées with apples and veggies especially the orange and red ones. Good luck op I’m so sorry.

Depends on your insurance but my ped blew me off on a couple things- he ended up having reflux damage, laryngomalacia, and CMPA. Go see a GI. Constipation is the demise of the colon.


My DD who is chronically constipated had terrible reflux as a baby.

How is he about drinking water.

Chia seeds are good in smoothies. I soak them for 10 first so they go all gooey if you’re going to serve the smoothie right away.

OP, +1 on get it checked out, specifically by a paediatric GI. While diet can be one concern, it could also be motility or absorption issue. Unfortunately, GI issues can beget other GI issues or concerns (like fissures, electrolyte imbalances, etc.) if left untreated.

Can I ask what they suggested and what worked?

By the way I’ve seen other GIs in the practice but I feel Dr Chao and Jessica are the best. Constipation is Jessica’s area of expertise so perhaps start with her because it is easier to get an appointment with her since she is an NP.

Thanks, all. Beans, fruit, oatmeal are listed on basically any website listing foods that help with constipation, but perhaps different foods impact people in different ways. i will see an appointment with a specialist.

OP get to a specialist. Don’t listen to internet advice- if you haven’t had a chronically constipated child you have no idea- this is different. And every child is different.

I had good experience with the GIs at Children’s. The waitlist for an initial appointment can be long- call today.
