This was the start of the “K” trend. Now it blends into the Kre8tive spelling of traditional names—though admittedly much less cringeworthy than most. It’s “tacky light”

+1

How did your parents react? Do they remember to use the new spelling?

K makes the sound for K. She is not a cat.

This is what I immediately thought of when I saw the question as well! ( Although sadly I have to disagree with Anne and vote Catherine with a C )

I think it depends on whether you will be using a nn. Katherine if your want Kate or Katie. Catherine for Cat. Cate and Caite are not typical spellings (though some people like to choose the unusual way)

I’m a Catherine named after my Scottish grandmother and about two hundred ancestors but I think Katherine looks better. Plus for nicknames like Kate or Katie or Kitty, it makes more sense.

What a Western Euro-centric POV. There is a bigger world.

Do we you like OP, no matter what i or any crowdsourced answer you get. The name spelled with a C does not come across as the name of a strong person to me. It seems submissive. In the end the pronunciation is way more important than spelling.
