I also believe there are far more kids that can do this work than there are seats so feel the programs should be expanded 2-3 fold.

The only thing that matters to MCPS is whether the racial composition in these programs matches the school system as a whole.
If it doesn't match, we can't have it.
That's racial equity in MCPS.

Right. Rather than try to close the achievement gap itself (which may or may not be possible bc they sure do funnel $$ and resources with little success year after year), they do all kinds of re-jiggering of programs to make things appear as it they are serving “underserved” students.

Very true. Also, only the crazies or a few trying to mislead others and spread angst go on about equity. Selection is race-blind as a matter of law.
