The move won't be deadly - I doubt anyone will quit over it. It will be annoying for some families and others will welcome it, depending on where they live.
You're right about the gutting of the program though - DCU invests a great deal less in its youth program than any other MLS team in the country.

DCU was in Loudoun last year with COVID. What there a mass exodus then?

If dcu played the top 5 players who are allegedly playing up, probably a totally different result. Also worth noting that if dcu had Arlington’s #7 and #9 on their team, probably a different result. One wonders about the selection process but it is very tough to judge off six minutes of highlights or even a single game.

Why is the result a surprise? The Arlington 06s are one of the top four ECNL teams in the country and can play with anyone, including MLS academies.

so MLS next another scam? When your next door neighbor with less resources can produce more and better than you you got a problem.
Why does it say anything about MLS Next? Arlington chose not to participate, and their 06 team happened to be stronger than another team's 06 team. I don't think a sample size of 2 teams, one of which chose not to be part of something, says much about anything.
